Some of the Job Responsibilities for Shipper / Receiver:
- Verify accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments by examining contents and comparing with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders
- Prepare documents such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials
- Determine shipping method for materials using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates and review of carrier rates on a regular basis
- Record shipment data such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes
- Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials
- Deliver or route materials to associated department(s) in timely fashion using applicable work orders in association with purchase orders
- Maintain a safe work environment
- Other duties as required
